Introduction:
The ability to compose an appropriate introduction for the chosen piece.
Re-harmonization:
The ability to re-harmonize the chosen piece.
Melodic Development:
The ability to embellish, improvise and utilize rhythmic variations of the melody.
Motific Development:
The ability to effectively utilize melodic motif(s) during the arrangement.
General Performance: (40 Points)
Interpretation:
The ability to take the piece and suitably adapt to the arrangement.
Dynamics:
The effective use of crescendos, contrasts, phrasing and other musical expressions in the arrangement.
Creativity:
The ability to utilize musical ideas to create an effective arrangement.
Balance:
The ability to effectively utilize the Steelband so that any section with a prominent role projects well.
Tone: (10 Points)
The overall tone of the pans including the consistency of tuning.
Rhythm: (10 Points)
The ability to utilize the drum kit, iron section and other percussive instruments and the ability of the Steelband to maintain a steady rhythmic flow throughout the entire performance.
Total: 100 Points
