Hamilton Youth Steel Orchestra (HYSO) pronounced – HI-SO is a 7-year old community-based music program that also offers children and youth a forum for positive group interaction and civic participation.  Our players are drawn from the Greater Hamilton area, Burlington, Brantford and Brampton. They range from age 5 to 24 years old and are divided into 3

groups, according to skill level.  HYSO players have the unique experience of receiving weekly music instructions via Skype, from the group’s instructor located in Trinidad.  2011 marks our 5th appearance at Pan Alive.  To date, one of the highlights was being voted the People’s Choice Winner in 2009.
